Acronym of capacitive and resistive energy transfer, tecar therapy is an innovative treatment that finds application in the physiotherapy and rehabilitative veterinary field for the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases. This physical therapy is a form of thermotherapy, i.e. a method that generates heat within the body tissues for therapeutic purposes. It is considered as an endogenous thermotherapy, as the heat is not irradiated from the outside, but is produced directly inside the tissues through the application of a high frequency variable electric field. CAPACITIVE METHOD

It allows to treat superficial tissues, focusing the action on skin, connective tissues, blood circulation and lymphatic
system.The current is applied to the body through two electrodes: an isolated electrode (active) and a non-isolated counter
electrode,placed opposite each other.Within the treated area, a movement of electric charges is generated, focusing mainly on the
tissues in the area below the activeelectrode, where the most intense therapeutic action takes place.

RESISTIVE METHOD

It is performed with a non-isolated electrode and allows to focus the current action on tissues that are more resistant to electrical charges, such as bones, cartilages, tendons, ligaments, aponeurotic bands and fibrotic tissues.The treatment technique uses two non-isolated electrodes (active electrode and counter electrode).The therapeutic action occurs between the two electrodes, because the flow of current, which generates heat, travels homogeneously along this channel.
