Tecar (Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive) therapy is a method that stimulates
the body by using radio waves, which allows the body to heal by creating
heat inside of it.
Is Tecar therapy painful?
No, tecar therapy is not painful. During treatment, patients usually feel a warm
sensation that results in a pleasant and comfortable experience.
TECAR is not just restricted to the physiotherapist profession but doctors are also using it as a
complimentary technique to enhance surgery, for filler treatment effects or as single treatment
therapy for skin tightening and body contour.
The last, but not least to benefit from the huge treatment possibilities of TECAR are the
veterinaries, not just for sport horses or animals but also for pets.
But what makes TECAR especially different, is that it is non-invasive and extremely pleasant.
If you have not been treated with TECAR already, most people around you have already experienced it.
TECAR therapy is a form of combined contact diathermy and electrotherapy. It is a medical practice
that applies electromagnetic energy to biological tissue. The electromagnetic frequency applied
originates from the radiofrequency spectrum. Unlike electrotherapy it does not provoke
muscle contraction.
What is TECAR Therapy?
TECAR stands for the spanish acronym Tranferencia Electica Capacitiva Resistiva, meaning
Capacitive Resistive Electric Transference. It is a diathermy (i.e. deep tissue thermotherapy)
therapeutic modality, therefore it increases local body tissue temperature, in combination with
subthermal application to promote the body's healing response.
TECAR technology is non-ablative, non-invasive, using currents of high frequency, usually in the
range between 300 KHz and 1 Mhz. It can work in two modes of energy transfer:
Capacitive mode: affects tissues with higher electrolytic content (soft tissues and muscles)
Resistive mode: affects tissues with higher resistance (joint, bone, tendon)
INDICATIONS FOR TREATMENT
various muscular pathologies (contracture, muscle tears, bruises and swelling)
injuries, osteoarticular distractions and wear of the joints (shoulder, hip, knee, ankle joints)
pathology of the elbow, wrist and arm (epicondylitis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome)
cervical, thoracic and lumbar pathology
inflammation and damage to the Achilles tendon, and patellar ligament
tendonitis and calcination in the area of the shoulder joint
acute and chronic edema

What is tecar therapy?
Diathermy, better known as Tecar therapy (an acronym for Capacitive and Resistive Energy Transfer),
is a therapeutic technique that uses an electric current with frequencies in the MF (Medium Frequencies)
radio band. It transfers energy in depth, through the tissues of the human body, triggering a biostimulating effect.
This is a therapy that is carried out in a medical practice, usually by a physiotherapist, on patients with a
variety of pathologies, requiring rehabilitation, sports and also aesthetic treatment.
The very first applications of diathermy, limited to the development of endogenous heat, date back to
1939, when William Beaumont developed the first instrument capable of generating heat endogenously,
thus coining the term "diathermy". The name has Greek origins, literally meaning "heat through".
Tecar therapy specifically, and diathermy in its broadest and technically correct sense, was patented in
1995. This year represents a milestone in the study and application of this technique in the therapeutic field.
Diathermy and Tecar - differences
As you may have noticed, we have used three different ways to refer to the same therapy. In fact, there
is no difference between Diathermy, Tecar and Tecar therapy; they are generally used as synonyms. It is
good to know, however, that the term diathermy denotes the therapeutic technique, while TECAR is
nothing more than a commercial acronym derived from its main functions (it stands for Transferencia
Electrica Capacitiva Resistiva, meaning Capacitive and Resistive Energy Transfer).
FAQ of tecar therapy
When can Winback tecartherapy be used for injuries, traumatic injuries or post-operative injuries?
Winback technology can be used from day one. By stimulating the circulatory system, reducing pain and
increasing cellular exchange, the use of Winback tecartherapy will do everything possible for healing to
occur under the best conditions.
How long does it take to obtain results after a tecartherapy treatment?
In most cases, results are seen during the first session, with a decrease in pain and a release of tension.
This can also be the case in chronic pathologies, with an improvement in amplitude from the first session.
How long does a Winback therapy session last?
Treatments can last from 5 to 60 minutes. Treatment time depends on several factors: whether it is acute
or chronic; whether it is combined with other therapies; whether it is a localized or more general treatment.
curative or preventive and maintenance treatment. The therapist will be able to determine the duration
of treatment based on his or her diagnosis and the training provided by the Winback Academy.
