Laser physical therapy
The 980nm wavelength optimizes the action on thermal andmechanical receptors for a rapid analgesic
effect, resulting inimproved pain control, circulation, and muscle relaxation. Clinicalstudies indicate
that 980nm primarily affects temperature-gatedcalcium ion channels
What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy uses light to favor and accelerate the body's natural healing
processes. The laser beam is moved over the skin so that the light energy (photons) penetrates the
tissue where it interacts with various molecules (chromophores) that cause different biological effects.
It produces a photochemical, photothermal and photomechanical effect.
Effects of LLLT
The effects of the LLLT which are significant for physiotherapy, and makes this tool useful to enhance
other treatments as therapeutic exercise, are:
Reduction of inflammation: It can occur within hours to days.
Pain relief
Accelerated tissue regeneration: LLLT stimulates cell proliferation of fibroblasts , keratinocytes ,
endothelial cells and lymphocytes.
